What is Holistic Nutrition Therapy?

A different approach.

Being holistic in our approach to nutrition means that we look at how all areas of your life are connected. As nutrition practitioners we assess your lifestyle, dietary intake, supplements, and each of your individualized needs. Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising? Does family or other priorities prevent you from planning and eating healthfully and mindfully?

The Holistic Nutrition Therapy program provides the backbone to your overall success, as we provide guidance and support along the way. We strongly believe that smart food choices can change your metabolism, increase sports performance, increase muscle recovery, help you loose weight, detoxify and balance your body, improve your nutrient balance, increase energy, and improve your overall mood.

Bio-individuality.

The concept of bio-individuality is that each person has his or her own food and lifestyle needs. Similar to the concept of “holistic”, dietary generalizations typically do not fit your specific needs. When experts say, “dairy is good for you” or “fat is unhealthy”, it doesn’t apply to every person or every situation; there are many more variables involved. One person’s food is another person’s poison, and that’s why fad diets tend to fail in the long run. Working on the principal of bio-individuality, we’ll support you in making positive changes that are based on your unique needs.

Everything in balance.

We are not only fed by food but by other factors in our lives; healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, exercise, breathing, spiritual practice, pleasure, and mindfulness. Outside of a healthy diet these are all things that effect us on a physiological and thus emotional level. When these “primary foods” or all essential forms of nourishment are balanced, what we eat becomes secondary.
